The Mater Foundation are delighted to have recently granted a combined €1.07 million in funding to support the equipping of the new Acute Medical Short Stay Unit, the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit and the Respiratory Special Care unit on St Raphael’s Ward in the Mater Hospital.

The Hyper Acute Stroke Unit is a 6-bed unit will provide specialised acute care to stroke patients and others with neurological issues. The Acute Medical Short Stay Unit at Mater will transform the care patients receive, with reduced overcrowding, faster treatment times, and designated areas for older and more frail patients

All three of these areas will all play a major role in the months and years ahead as the staff at the Mater continue to provide world class care.
